We would really like your support at a Demonstration and Rally at Amazon Fulfilment Site Rugeley. For a number of months GMB have been supporting members facing horrendous conditions. Ambulances have been called to site for really serious incidents such as electrocution. Amazon make billions of pounds of profit yet they are failing to provide a safe working environment. These workers are always in fear of losing their jobs so they have no voice. Collectively we can give them a voice please join us
Across the country, @GMB_union members working for NASUWT were striking yesterday to fight for their pensions and pay. They don't need their employer to apologise for any inconvenience the strike has caused, they need meaningful discussions to resolve the dispute!
We're very proud to have the support of our Regional Council for our campaign to tackle #PeriodPoverty Today, we updated them on our delegation trip this week to the Houses of Parliament to talk to Labour MPs
GMB members of the NASUWT across the UK stood shoulder to shoulder with their colleagues in protest against pension changes without any agreement from the GMB. Strike action across the UK showed unity amongst GMB members. I would like to thank everyone for their Solidarity. Next Strike date is the 5th November. Unity is Strength. So at the close of the Activist Weekend attendees had taken a journey, Looking at the history and the successes of giants that shaped our present and future. They explored their power as Shop Stewards and what that means to members. They were given the tools to start the conversations to grow the union, to encourage others to get active. Valerie Vaz Shadow Cabinet Member brought politics into the debate. Team building by Karaoke and pub quiz, was on the evening agenda and the next day the challenge for the year ahead was set. The realisation in summary was Organising is key to strength which in turn allows us to change the world into a better place one workplace at a time ✊
MPs will be voting today on whether to extend the minimum wage to under 25 year-olds. Young workers can be paid a lower wage simply because of their age and not the work they are doing. This practice of wages based on ages must end. Young Labour National Committee are proud to be supporting GMB Young Members' campaign and Holly Lynch MP's amendment to the #LivingWageBill. If you're able to, please tweet or email your MP to ask them to be in Parliament today to vote in support of the amendment ✊️
‘Amazon’s taxes smell fishy - the government & HMRC must further investigate’ GMB West Midlands Senior Organiser Amanda Gearing spoke up for GMB members at Amazon - and the UK public - on The World at One, BBC Radio 4 after it was revealed Amazon’s dodgy tax affairs meant they paid just £4.6m tax on £72m profit (that’s *just 6%* btw) We knew conditions in Amazon warehouses were dreadful, and that they have complete disregard for their workers, but now we know they do for UK taxpayers too
